We are looking for a talented business analyst to join the Restricted Products (RP) team.


This role will be a key member RP team, responsible for driving analysis and insights to help make meaningful business decisions. As a Business Analyst, you will focus on improving the success within business functions by analyzing data, discovering and solving real world problems, building metrics and business cases to improve customer experience, and providing timely data support for escalations to mitigate risk. We are focused on your success and want to build future leaders within Amazon. A key component of the role is to identify process and system improvement opportunities by developing the right metrics, analyzing data, and partnering with internal teams. In addition, you will design and develop automated reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to manage the business and make effective decisions. Lastly, you will enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into a digestible and actionable format.


As a Business Analyst you are responsible for building a robust set of operational and business metrics, working with cross-functional teams to design, build, deploy the reporting systems, and utilize metrics to determine improvement opportunities. Working in a dynamic environment, you will be responsible for monitoring key success metrics, identifying business metrics that assess risk and challenges, collaboratively shape solutions with the team. You need to be an effective user of Amazon business intelligence tools, and data warehouses to help analyze the performance across segments. You will be expected to quickly become a subject matter expert of Amazon data structures and data flows, and help business leaders improve business processes, make better decisions, and generate value.
In this role, you are expected to work closely with your peers, operations managers to understand their requirement and translate them in to actionable business metrics.


This role requires an individual with excellent statistical and analytical abilities, deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions and outstanding business acumen. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and driven by a desire to innovate in this space.


Key job responsibilities
· Creating automated reports and dashboards with a combination of BI tools such as Tableau
· Partnering with program team, Legal, and Tech stakeholders to understand challenges and provide analysis to help drive program success
· Executing high priority (i.e. cross functional, high impact) projects to improve operations performance
· Planning, analyzing and reporting daily, weekly and monthly metrics; identifying trends and opportunities to reduce costs and improve processes
· Retrieve and analyze data using SQL, Excel, Access (including VBA) and other data management systems
· Providing data support for business and cross-functional partners to address escalations and answer questions using PostgreSQL and AWS solutions
· Uncovering trends and correlations through mining and analysis to develop insights that can help stakeholders to make effective decisions
· Designing and executing analytical projects using statistical analysis
· Develop scalable solutions/self-serve platforms that will provide data/KPIs to inform business decision making.


About the team
The Restricted Products (RP) team's charter is to protect Amazon customers from products that are illegal, illegally marketed, unsafe, or otherwise prohibited by Amazon policies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business, or related field
· 2+ years of professional experience in analytics, statistical data analysis, measurement & experimentation, or comparable experience
· Hands-on experience in writing complex, highly-optimized SQL queries across large datasets
· Proficient working knowledge of data mining using ETL, data warehouse as well as Excel
· Prior experience with data visualization (Tableau, QuickSight, Power BI, etc.)
· Excellent writing and critical analytic thinking
· Effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
· Ability to dive deep and demonstrate attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of relevant experience in a business analyst, data analyst or statistical analyst role
· Ability to use scripting languages such as Python or R to evaluate data
· Experience with AWS services including S3, Redshift, EMR and Apache Spark
· Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Project management and execution under hard deadlines
· Proven problem solving skills and sound judgement with regard to unstructured, uncertain problems
