Service Asset and Configuration Management Senior Specialist, Demant

As the Service Asset and Configuration Management specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) that contains information about the Configuration Items (CIs) required to deliver IT services. You will ensure that the CMDB is accurate, complete, and relevant, and that it supports the IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and the business needs of Demant. You will also design, configure, and manage the ServiceNow Discovery processes that identify and populate the CIs in the CMDB, as well as integrate and automate CMDB-related processes to enhance efficiency and quality. You will collaborate with various IT teams globally to ensure alignment and compliance. You will also provide training and support and IT teams on CMDB best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Take ownership of the CMDB, ensuring accurate representation of configuration items (CIs) and relationships.
  • Define and enforce CMDB policies and procedures to maintain data accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and define CI classes, attributes, and relationships.
  • Design, configure, and manage ServiceNow Discovery processes to identify and populate CIs in the CMDB.
  • Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and application teams to enhance discovery patterns and ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Monitor and analyze discovery data to identify and resolve discrepancies and errors.

Integration and Automation:

  • Integrate ServiceNow CMDB processes with other ITSM processes, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to streamline CMDB-related processes

 

Communicate changes, updates, and improvements to relevant stakeholders:

  • Provide training and support to IT teams on CMDB best practices.
  • Audit and Compliance: 
    • Conduct audits to verify the accuracy and quality of the CMDB data
    • Ensure alignment with IT Security teams to identify flaws and weaknesses in assets that could be used by a threat.

 

Qualifications and Skills
To become a success in your new position, we expect you to possess most of the following skills and qualifications:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), Configuration Management, or related field
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform, especially Discovery module is a plus
  • Experience with ITOM Discovery tools such as ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM or similar and how to consolidate and normalise data from different sources to improve data quality
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with integration tools such as REST API or SOAP
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework, especially Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) process
  • Knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure components, and application architectures
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
