Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
  • Strong background in materials & industrial processes field or in a similar position;
  • Good knowledge of industry processes, materials, and costs;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English is required;
  • Knowledge of a 3D package, ideally SolidWorks/AutoCad, Creo;
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel required).
  • Analytical thinking and detailed oriented
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately.

As a cost engineer you will play a key role in the GRENZEBACH ROMANIA’s activities related to estimation of time and materials required to manufacture a product or to provide a service.
In order to make these estimations you will collect and analize data, proposals and documents and than prepare the time, cost, and labor estimates for their company as well.
You will also plann new projects, consult with colleagues on cost-related issues and conduct cost control for existing projects.
You may be required to give presentations related to costs for managers in your company. In making presentations and presenting analyses, you must be capable of explaining technical concepts to a variety of audiences.

Key responsibilities:
As a cost estimator work tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses;
  • Gather information on materials needed (standards, catalogues, etc ), labor required, and other factors, like finding subcontractors for some operations or possible suppliers for special materials or components;
  • Read blueprints and technical documents in order to prepare estimates (base of orders, quality requirements, finishing, packing and/or delivery requirements);
  • Collaborate with engineers, plant process supervisors, suppliers and/or subcontractors on estimates;
  • Use computer software to calculate estimates, including databases with information on the costs of other similar projects or products;
  • Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability;
  • Recommend ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable;
  • Work with sales teams to prepare estimates and offers for clients (customers);
  • Meet deadlines in order to prepare price offers;
  • Calculates the cost of developing, producing, or redesigning a company’s good or service. Accurately predicting the cost, size, and duration of future manufacturing projects is vital to the survival of businesses;
  • Analyse many inputs when making calculations in order to determine how much time and materials a project needs and how profitable it will be. These estimates have to take many factors into account, including technological scrap (wasted material), shipping and transport costs, and other factors that can increase costs
