Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Role Purpose:  To manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of a global on-premises Infrastructure base spanning across 20 sites in Europe & Asia as well as the design, migration, development and implementation of efficient applications and services for the Azure Platform where you the candidate will be accountable for the many facets of our client’s cloud implementations. It is serving as a technical expert in the infrastructure team, who will participate in and oversee various analytical and technical assignments that provide for problem diagnosis, solutions documentation, implementation, administration, support, and maintenance of various hardware and software. The role has a potential requirement to travel however, this is not mandatory.

 Your Key Responsibilities will include: 

• To liaise and collaborate with other members of the Infrastructure Team to ensure that agreed key deliverables are met.
• Deep technical experience in infrastructure design, build and deployment, including private and public cloud, networking, connectivity, storage, virtualization, and identity
• Build of hybrid environments to span existing customer networks and Azure
• Managing and maintaining client Azure environments
•  Experience building and deploying resilient Azure cloud environments
•  Experience of migration and modernization of workloads from customers' on-premise data centres to Azure
• Experience building and deploying Azure resources using IaC
• Experience with the Azure CLI, PowerShell/Azure PowerShell, and the Azure Portal
• Creating and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps (VSTS) to deploy both infrastructure and applications
• Experience working with or using Azure technologies such as virtual machines, blob, queues, tables, Cloud Services, web apps, functions apps, Azure Active Directory, Virtual Networks, etc.
• Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Windows server operating systems and server hardware in multi-site environments.
• Assist in producing and maintaining appropriate documentation, ensuring that procedures are documented in an efficient and timely manner, and that suitable version control is employed for all Infrastructure systems.
• Provide service assurance on configuration work, making sure all changes submitted are logged appropriately in line with the overall IT process for Change Management.
• Proactively monitor and update incidents or requests assigned to the Infrastructure Team queue including your own.
• Understand our disaster recovery procedures ensuring they are checked and in place, regularly assessed and kept up to date with newly introduced or modified infrastructure/systems.
• Assist with the delivery of projects contained within the IT Strategy as directed
• Engaging with third parties if needed and work with them towards the resolution of an incident
• Facilitate proactive remediation of new vulnerabilities by collaboration with cyber security, and endpoint teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of technical support experience within a diverse multicultural team/organisation responsible for infrastructure planning and operations.
• Proven ability and more than 2 years' experience implementing Azure Cloud solutions and a good understanding of how to manage and deploy systems withinStrong exposure in IT automation such as writing custom scripts/tools/integrations where required.
• Superior English, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience of managing, communicating, and working with third party vendors.
• Good understanding of Information Security & Risk and IT cyber security technologies and threats.
• Strong analysis and decision-making skills with keen attention to detail
• Ability to work in a team and alone on various collaborations, tasks, or projects.
• Proven proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to work under stress and in time pressure situations
• Excellent problem solver and listener who shows tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
• Azure Certifications are desirable.

 Skills & Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services in deployment, migration, management, security and audit for the following: Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Azure Active Directory, AD Connect, Azure Monitor, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Server, Azure Automation and Azure Migrate
• Docker and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes desirable
• In-depth knowledge and hands on experience of Microsoft Server and Linux technologies
• In-depth knowledge of Cloud storage subsystems and storage protocols
• In-depth knowledge of Cloud backup and restore technologies
• Knowledge of Hyper-V & VMWare virtual hypervisors as well as some knowledge on KVM based systems
• Ability to think logically and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and drive to create and maintain up-to-date documentation (Processes, Visio diagrams, Excel spreadsheets)
• Ability to give and follow complex instructions by phone and email
• Understanding of ITIL practices
