Bank Guarantee Specialist

The job holder is tasked with reviewing and commenting on bond texts or similar trade instruments (bank guarantees/letters of credit) to ensure acceptance by the banks and compliance by the company to all requirements and rules. This needs to be done in local language where possible and/or liaising with local finance/collection team in case of language barrier.

Providing advice to clients and stakeholders and helping to structure guarantee texts in coordination with designated banks whilst ensuring compliance to corporate guidelines is also key to this role.

The ability to express opinions in written and verbal format in a precise and understandable manner within a multi-cultural environment is essential to this job.

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the business on guarantee requirements, providing advice and guidance as required.  Ensure the business also complies with the need to request guarantees be opened at the proper time in the project to prevent either disputes and/or payment delays.
• Open bank guarantees as requested by the business, ensuring they are compliant with Emerson, Customer and Banking requirements.
• Continue to liaise with the business during the life of the guarantee and process any amendments required in a timely and accurate manner.
• Liaise with banks and customers alike to ensure guarantees are closed at the proper time.
• There is work ongoing to better manage limits with the banks from an overall perspective and the incumbent will in time be part of that project team.
• Provide any support required by Management in the daily operation of all AR functions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• At least 2 years trade finance experience with in-depth knowledge of Export trade finance
• Solid international commercial credit experience
• Computer literate (must include Excel and Word)
• The successful applicant will possess a high level of attention to detail and be able to understand and manage nuances in wording
• Highly literate and numerate 
• Able to communicate at all levels within and outwith the business
• Fluent written and verbal French and English are essential and knowledge of German, Slavic languages or any other European language is highly desirable.
